National Night Out Celebration This Thursday at TNOTS

The City of Palmdale’s public safety and community relations department will kick off the 28th Annual National Night Out (NNO) with special activities and displays at the City’s Thursday Night on the Square (TNOTS) event this Thursday, July 28.

“We’re proud to feature a variety of crime prevention and safety-related activities,” said Palmdale’s Crime Prevention Officer Kery German. “We’ll have vehicles and representatives on hand from the City’s public safety office, the Los Angeles County Sheriff and Los Angeles County Fire Department’s, and as well as participants from the California Highway Patrol to answer questions and share information.”

The event will run from 5:30 to 9 pm in Poncitlán Square, 38315 9th Street East  in Palmdale.

“In celebration of NNO, we’re asking our residents to participate by turning on their outside lights and spending evenings outside with neighbors throughout the month of August,” German said. “Many neighborhoods and Neighborhood Watch Groups will be hosting special events such as block parties, cookouts and visits from public safety staff and Sheriff’s deputies.”

National Night Out is a nationwide crime and drug prevention awareness campaign sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch designed to generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts.  It strengthens neighborhood spirit and law enforcement-community partnerships and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting crime.  Target is the national corporate sponsor of NNO.
