SAVES Accepting Applications, Donations for Back-to-School Program

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale’s South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) is accepting applications and donations for its annual Back-to-School program.

“Each year, SAVES distributes hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to South Antelope Valley students who are in need of these materials for their studies,” said SAVES Coordinator Patricia Morales. “We are encouraging residents to help us provide these much-needed items by making donations in the form of supplies or monetary contributions.”

School supplies that are needed include backpacks, pencil boxes, calculators, erasable pens, dictionaries, three ring binders, notebook paper, erasers, staplers, graph paper, and flash drives.

“If anyone would prefer to make a monetary donation, they may do so by making their check payable to the Palmdale Community Foundation with ‘SAVES’ noted on the memo line,” Morales said.

Supply and monetary donations may be brought to SAVES, located at 37925 Sierra Highway, Suite H, in Palmdale.

Residents in need of school supplies for their students may apply for the program by filling out an application at the SAVES office by July 30. SAVES will supply new backpacks with grade appropriate school supplies to all school age children whose families qualify for the program.
