American Red Cross to Host Japan Earthquake and

Pacific Tsunami Relief Drive at Clear Channel Stadium

WHAT: The American Red Cross Antelope Valley Chapter will host a Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Drive at Clear Channel Stadium. Donors will be able to drive in, make a financial donation via cash, check, or credit card and receive vital information on disaster preparedness, local Red Cross services and volunteer opportunities.

WHEN: Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Clear Channel Stadium 45116 Valley Central Way, Lancaster, CA 93536 (Hwy 14 and exit I)

WHY: Our hearts go out to the people of Japan and the other survivors of the earthquake and tsunami. The American Red Cross has made an initial contribution of $10 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist in its ongoing efforts to provide medical care and relief assistance.

        • The American Red Cross is in close contact with our partners in the Pacific region to offer our support and they are grateful for the assistance. An official at the Japanese Red Cross recently said: “At a time when the Japanese Red Cross is providing medical assistance, blankets, and other humanitarian care to tens of thousands of Japanese who have been devastated by earthquakes, a tsunami, and evacuations occasioned by nuclear power crises, the Japanese Red Cross is extremely grateful for the financial assistance being provided by the American people and the American Red Cross.”

Request widespread dissemination of this important effort through all available means.  Members of the media wishing to attend the event are asked to contact the Antelope Valley office at 661.267.0650.
