Solar Powered Back Pack to Be Given Away at DryTown’s “Ready, Set, Go Green!”

Solar Powered Back Pack to Be Given Away at DryTown’s “Ready, Set, Go Green!” PALMDALE – The second of three of the City of Palmdale’s “Ready, Set, Go Green!” recycling events will take place this Saturday, June 25 from 11 am to 4 pm at DryTown Water Park, 3850-B East Avenue S in Palmdale.

“The purpose of ‘Ready, Set, Go Green!’ is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling,” said Palmdale’s Administrative Analyst Ben Lucha. “We’re inviting residents to stop by with their recyclable cans and bottles and in exchange, we’ll give them opportunity tickets for a chance at a great prize.” This week’s special giveaway item will be a solar powered backpack provided by Waste Management, valued at approximately $140. “The more CRV bottles and cans you bring, the more raffle tickets you can get,” said DryTown Recreation Coordinator Laura Rice.
Admission to DryTown Water Park is not included.

”At our first event, we raffled off a brand new Squire Stratocaster Guitar, retail value of $379, which was donated to the event by the Guitar Center in Palmdale,” Rice added. “Our goal is to make this event something that only brings awareness to the importance of recycling, but also makes it possible for one lucky winner to take home a very cool prize just for recycling.”

The final “Ready, Set, Go Green!” event will take place on Saturday, July 30. Waste Management will match all funds generated through residents’ donated recyclables and co-host a clothing drive for South Antelope Valley Emergency Services (SAVES) during all three dates.
