Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day Ceremony Airs on Palmdale Ch. 27 for 1st Anniversary

Golden_hornadayreport

PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale will mark the one-year anniversary of Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day with special airing on Palmdale Channel 27 of the ceremony that was held on April 8, 2010 at the Palmdale Auto Mall to honor the NASCAR racing legend who calls Palmdale his hometown.

The ceremony will be re-broadcast on Channel 27 in its entirety Fridays and Saturdays at 2:30 pm and 9:30 pm and on Sundays at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm throughout the month of April.  The ceremony, as well as all of the City’s original programming and live Web casts, may also be viewed on the City’s Web site at www.cityofpalmdale.org <http://www.cityofpalmdale.org>.

The announcement was made by Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford at the April 6 Palmdale City Council meeting, where the City Council recognized the one year anniversary of Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day with a recap of events and a special “Hornaday Update” by Antelope Valley Press Sports Columnist Brian Golden.

In 2010, the Palmdale City Council proclaimed April 8 as Ron Hornaday, Jr. Day in Palmdale and designated the area around the Palmdale Auto Mall as Ron Hornaday, Jr. Way with a display of colorful street banners bearing his likeness and his famous number “16” car.

The special ceremony, which honored NASCAR racing champion and former Palmdale resident Ron Hornaday, Jr. for his excellence in his sport, attracted numerous fans throughout Southern California and beyond.

Hornaday, known as the “Pride of Palmdale,” is a four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) champion.  He has competed in all of NASCAR’s three elite divisions, but has found a home in the NCWTS and with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI).
